Course Overview

This workshop provides participants with an understanding of the Looking After Children (LAC) processes and frameworks and the role case managers, practitioners, residential workers, carers, various stakeholders, families, children and young people play in its implementation.

It provides an understanding of the Best Interests Case Practice model and the importance of embedding Looking After Children (LAC) to ensure effective planning, best practice and good outcomes are achieved for all children and young people in out-of-home care.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the Looking After Children (LAC) processes and framework
  • Understand how the Best Interest Case Practice Model and Looking After Children (LAC) processes and framework are integrated to ensure best practice and good outcomes for children in out-of-home care
  • Involve children, young people, families and other stakeholders in the Looking After Children (LAC) processes and framework
  • Understand how to complete the Looking After Children (LAC) care and placement plans and other records.
