At our Annual General Meeting on November 27, the Centre said a fond farewell and enormous thank you to our outgoing Chair, Dr Lisa J. Griffiths.

Lisa has been a superb leader on our Board, generous with her time and energy for the Centre and staff over her four years as Chair and nine years on the Board. Thank you for your leadership and all you have done and continue to do in support of children and families.

Lisa was one of the first leaders in Victoria to see the potential for implementing evidence-based programs locally. She supported her senior staff in going overseas to learn about these models and then returning to share this knowledge with others back home.

She has shown how important high-quality data is to inform our advocacy work and influence funding decisions – this has not always been an easy role – but her strong evidence advocacy has led to life-changing outcomes for children and families in our state and beyond.

Lisa has been a persistent and strong advocate for much better conditions for foster carers. She has used evidence to show why the Commonwealth and State must work together and how this can happen. She has been a respectful and strong supporter of First Nations self-determination – an early supporter of transitioning Aboriginal children into Aboriginal care, advocating for proportionate resources, and collaborating with ACCOs in local communities.

She has also been an incredibly loyal advocate of the Centre as a peak body advocating for children and families.

Thank you, Lisa
