Celebrating strong voices in the media.

Media honouring the voices of youth and families
For the last five years, our annual Media Awards celebrate the journalists amplifying the voices of children and families with respect and depth.
Despite growing awareness around issues like family and domestic violence and online safety, media coverage often lacks meaningful engagement with lived experiences.
Our Media awards celebrate coverage that genuinely reflects the perspectives of Victoria’s children, young people, and their families, emphasising the value of their voices in shaping public understanding.
By acknowledging these efforts, the Media Awards reinforce the importance of stories that resonate with empathy and encourage a more informed, compassionate understanding of the challenges faced by Victoria’s children and families.
The 2024 Media Awards
The upcoming 2024 Media Awards will once again recognise outstanding journalism that brings the voices of Victoria’s children and families to the forefront.
This year’s event celebrates media professionals who have excelled in presenting the lived experiences of young people and families with respect and authenticity, influencing public awareness of critical issues.
The finalists for the 2024 Media Awards have been announced and were selected by a judging panel that includes the Centre’s CEO Deb Tsorbaris, the Centre’s Board Chair and CEO of OzChild Dr Lisa Griffiths, a young person with care experience, and a representative from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH).
The 2024 Media Awards will be presented at the Centre’s Annual General Meeting on 27 November 2024.
