Understanding food safety essentials for residential care settings
This course is designed to help you understand the importance of food safety and how it can be maintained in the residential care home setting.
Food safety is crucial in all settings, but it is particularly important in residential care homes where young people rely on staff to provide them with nutritious and safe food.
It is essential that everyone involved in food handling understands the principles of food safety. This includes knowledge of food storage, preparation, cooking, and serving. The aim of this course is to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to maintain high levels of food safety in your workplace and keep the young people in your care healthy.
Throughout this course, we will cover a range of topics, including the causes of foodborne illness, personal hygiene, food storage, temperature control, cross-contamination, cleaning and sanitisation.
By the end of the course, you will be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to handle food safely, minimise the risk of foodborne illness, and ensure that the young people in your care receive safe and nutritious meals.
Intended audience
