In November, the Centre welcomed members and sector leaders to a briefing on Social Housing in Victoria with the Hon. Harriet Shing, Minister for Housing, Equality, and Water.

Highlights included:

  • Housing reform: Minister Shing provided valuable insights into Victoria’s housing reforms and commitments to addressing homelessness.
  • Panel discussion: Contributions from sector leaders, including Shorna Moore (Head of Policy, Advocacy & Government Relations ​at Melbourne City Mission), Paul McDonald (CEO at Anglicare Vic), Laura Mahoney (Executive Director, Launch Housing​), and Simon Newport (CEO, Homes Victoria), emphasized innovative solutions for housing challenges affecting children, young people, and families.
  • Children’s perspectives: ANU More for Children Issues Paper #2 – Housing underscores the importance of stable housing for a child’s safety, health, and development.
