Vision and purpose

Children Australia is committed to advancing the welfare, wellbeing, and development of children, young people, and families by building a robust evidence base, informing and enhancing outcomes.

The journal spotlights a varied evidence base, including research studies, reflections from practice, and experiential insights, ensuring the child, youth, and family services sector is equipped with relevant and valuable knowledge; it serves as a formal platform for sharing insights and innovations, encouraging the creation and application of evidence across the sector.

By promoting collaboration between practitioners and researchers, the journal breaks down silos in knowledge and creates stronger connections that build capacity in evidence generation and dissemination.

Children Australia reflects a multidisciplinary approach, ensuring perspectives from practice, policy, and academia come together to create meaningful change.

History

Children Australia was established to address the critical need for a dedicated platform that unites research, practice, and policy in the child, youth, and family services sector.

The journal has consistently provided a space for diverse voices, including children, young people, carers, parents, practitioners, academics, researchers, and policymakers. Its contributions span original research articles, reviews, policy reports, and reflective commentaries, making it a comprehensive resource for those working to improve outcomes for children and families.

Published continuously online in two issues per calendar year, Children Australia has become a vital channel for knowledge sharing and collaboration, supporting the sector in driving evidence-informed change and innovation.
