Meeting the needs of those living in out-of-home care and the people who support them

At the Centre, we advocate for quality services tailored to meet the needs of young people living in out-of-home care and their carers, ensuring the best possible life outcomes, and providing access to essential resources.

Over time, the profile of young people entering out-of-home care has changed, with increased rates of various diagnosed and undiagnosed disabilities and complex trauma and carrying with them experiences of family violence or maltreatment. Collectively, children and young individuals in out-of-home care experience significantly poorer developmental, psychosocial, emotional, and behavioural outcomes in contrast to their peers in the community.

Clearing pathways to success

With increasingly complex needs, young people living in out-of-home care require intensive support.

We’re committed to enhancing workforce skills and ensuring professionals are fully equipped to provide meaningful support for children in out-of-home care.

We’re proud to collaborate with agencies to develop innovative foster care models. We advocate for increased awareness and understanding of the needs of young people in out-of-home care, supporting their transition into adulthood by providing clear pathways to higher education. We simplify processes for foster carers and recognise and celebrate their invaluable contributions.
